An Australian academic jailed in Iran’s notorious Evin prison is planning a second hunger strike with “several” other women following a Christmas Eve protest, human rights advocates say. University of Melbourne Islamic studies lecturer Kylie Moore-Gilbert was “in tears and looked desperate” after undertaking a 48-hour hunger strike with another other female inmate in the overcrowded and insect-infested jail, well-known for housing political prisoners.
